Carpet for Bedford Homes Built Around 1983
The median Bedford home was built in 1983 (American Community Survey, 2020 to 2024), and North Texas houses of that era were usually built on concrete slabs. Under the carpet in a house that age, we tend to find the same things: tack strip nailed into the slab several times over, staples left from older pad, and sometimes dark stains in the concrete where a pet had accidents years ago. Odor can linger in the slab even after the old carpet is gone, so we seal those spots before new cushion goes down.
Who lives in the house matters as much as the slab. Bedford's median age is 39.5, older than Texas as a whole, and more than a quarter of its owners have been in their homes since before 2000. For many of them, a deep plush is less useful than a lower, denser pile over a firm cushion, which is easier to walk on, rolls better under a walker or desk chair and is less likely to catch a toe. Younger families in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD area ask different questions, mostly about which carpet hides juice spills and survives sleepovers. That usually points to solution-dyed fibers with a stain-resistant treatment.
