Laminate for Mansfield Owners Updating or Selling
Many Mansfield sellers compete with brand-new houses a few streets away. The city reported an average market price of about $625,000 for a new home in 2025, and roughly a fifth of its land is still undeveloped, so construction keeps coming (City of Mansfield FY2025-26 budget). The median owner-occupied home, by comparison, is valued at about $482,000 (American Community Survey, 2024). Buyers who walk through a 2005 house after touring a model home notice worn carpet and dated vinyl right away, and new laminate in the main rooms is one of the less expensive ways to narrow that gap.
Staying in the house is a different calculation. If you plan to live with the floor for years, the AC rating and the core matter more than the price per box. Many current laminates have water-resistant cores and sealed edges, which help near entries and in homes with kids and dogs, though they are still not made for standing water. On the ground floor we check slab moisture and flatness and lay a vapor barrier; upstairs we fasten loose subfloor panels before the planks float over them.
